THE YKC

For Dog Lovers ages 6-24 Yrs. Whether you own a pedigree, crossbreed or just love dogs, with dog training especially for children, the chance to compete at Crufts and FREE access to the Kennel Club's biggest shows, the UK's largest club for young dog lovers is perfect for you!

Dogs entered into junior handling need to be on the Kennel Club breed register to compete at a championship or open show YKC qualifier. If you have a crossbreed or dog with no papers then don’t worry, we know all dogs should be presented to the world, so dogs on other Kennel club registers can enter handling classes at YKC events.
Preparing your dog to be able to compete successfully will take a little longer than the formal requirements. It is essential that your dog is fully socialised and that you have effective control at all times.

If you would like some practice to learn the basics before competing, the Young Kennel Club trains club members in Junior Handling at our training events and our summer camp.

You can also collect points at shows to apply for a Handling Badge from the YKC. Contact the Young Kennel Club for a showing points book to keep a list of your points. You can collect points at championship, open, limited & companion shows (details can be found in the Points Book).
